The Big Story Reading Plan, Part 3

Knowing each sentence and word will help you remember what the New Testament is all about. Once you know it well, you'll be surprised how easy is to share it with someone. Faithfulness

In the midst of centuries of oppression by foreign empires, God remained faithful to His people.

Day 46 ~ Daniel 2:20-23 God's control of world history.

Day 47 ~ Luke 1:46-55 God keeps His promises.

Day 48 ~ Luke 1: 68-79 God is merciful to His people.

Live it Out: Write out your favorite verse and put it in your Scripture box.

Birth

Then God fulfilled His promises to Abraham and David in a way no one was expecting, carrying out His plan to restore His relationship with people and to live with them; He was born as a human baby.

Day 49 ~ Luke 2:1-20 The birth of Jesus.

Day 50 ~ John 1:1-18 The Word became human.

Day 51 ~ Romans 1:1-5 The Good News about Jesus fulfilled prophecy.

Live it Out: If you're up for the challenge, try writing a poem about Jesus' birth. I'd love to hear it if you do write one!

Kingdom

Jesus, who was fully human and God, grew up and told people about the Good News that God's kingdom was coming.

Day 52 ~ Matthew 4:12-17 The ministry of Jesus begins.

Day 53 ~ Matthew 5 Jesus teaches about life in God's Kingdom.

Day 54 ~ Philippians 2:1-11 Jesus is both God and a human being.

Live it Out: Write out two of your favorite verses.

Teaching

Huge crowds followed Jesus, and He taught them through parables.

Day 55 ~ Mark 4:1-20 Parable of the farmer scattering seed.

Day 56 ~ Luke 10:30-37 Parable of the Good Samaritan.

Day 57 ~ Luke 5:11-32 Parable of the Lost Son.

Live it Out: Create a summary sentence for one of these passages.

Miracles

Jesus did many miracles which demonstrated in person the love and power of God.

Day 58 ~ Mark 5:1-20 Jesus heals a demon possessed man.

Day 59 ~ Luke 8:40-56 Jesus heals a woman and raises a girl from the dead.

Day 60 ~ John 9 Jesus heals a man born blind.

Live it Out: Write out your favorite verse/s.

Opposition

But the religious leaders refused to believe that Jesus was God.

Day 61 ~ Mark 12:13-17 Religious leaders try to trick Jesus.

Day 62 ~ Luke 20:1-8 Religious leaders challenge Jesus' authority.

Day 63 ~ John 5:16-47 Jesus addresses the religious leaders.
