Worship = Hope
Hope and worship. How does that link? What does hope have to do with worship? The question to answer this question is, who do we worship? We worship God, and God alone. God is three in one, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We have hope of a new life because we believe in God. In having hope in God, we should want to worship Him.
Hope = The Stem
The stem of a plant is very important, though not pretty. Without the stem, there is no flower. Without hope, there would be no God, therefore, there wouldn't be worship.
To have a healthy tree, you must prune off the dead branches for new life to grow. Sometimes God cuts things off of us so that other parts can grow bigger. When hard things happen, we have to trust God to lead us through. We have to trust that He holds everything in His hands.
Something the speaker said really hit me deep. She said, "A stem is not pretty, but neither was the cross." The cross. Even though it seemed like a terrible thing, the cross turned out to be one of the most important things God used for His plan. God used something broken for His good. The cross became a sign of hope. Hope for our salvation.
Our stems may not be pretty, but God can use anything, even broken things, in His plan.
Worship = Individual Faith
What is Individual Faith and what does worship have to do with it? Individual Faith is your faith life. Your journey with Jesus. It is you and Jesus. Worship and Individual Faith is your worship to God. Why you worship God. Why you want to worship God.
Individual Faith = The Flower
Our lives are all beautiful and different in different ways, just like flowers. Everyone's flower (or life) is different. We've all been called to do God's will in different ways. Though your flower is different from others, it is unique and special. Those exact talents were given to you by God for a purpose. But what's great, is that you don't have to run the race alone. A bunch of flowers is better than one. You won't be given every talent, that's why we must depend on others and their gifts.
Worship = The Power of the Holy Spirit
We can't worship without the Holy Spirit. Let me explain this further. Us, as humans, are sinful. Our sinful nature tells us we can do everything on our own, without God. Without the Holy Spirit we can't accept that we need God. In John 4:24 it reads, "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” We must worship through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is powerful and with this power, we can worship God. We must remember that without the Holy Spirit, we cannot worship.
The Power of the Holy Spirit = The Fruit
The Holy Spirit's Power (in p's)
is Practical
pours out
gives us protection
is patient
produces fruit
The Fruit is the product of faith. A tree bears fruit just like our faith will bear fruit. This fruit we bear is the product of our faith. Here are some more "p" words to help remember what the product of faith is...
The Product of Faith
is Putting in into practice
Praising God
Planted deep in you
is always Pressing onward
is Praying in the Spirit
is the Presence of the Spirit
is Peace
is Perfect
is Personal
gives us Purpose
is Peculiar to the rest of the world ("The world does not understand what hope is or why we are the way we are." Is the way the speaker put it.)
Keep this all in mind when you worship at home, at church, in your vehicle, or anywhere else. I hope you have been encouraged with the three post series Made to Worship. Thanks for reading!
