Here is the second part of Made to Worship, which is based on the chapel from camp.

Worship = Receive

What does receiving have to do with worship? Before we can worship God, we must humble ourselves, which we talked a little about in the previous post. The step after humility, is receiving. We must receive Jesus into our life before we can worship. You can't worship someone you don't believe in. In order to receive Jesus, you must let go. Let go of your fear, anxiety, and sinful behavior. Give your life to Jesus. Let Him take charge.

Jesus' character can be remembered by The "R" Truths.

The "R" Truths:

Jesus...

  • rose again.

  • is seated at the right hand of God.

  • wants a relationship with us.

  • has released us from our sins

  • had redeemed us.

  • has revealed His character to us.

Worship = The Roots

What does roots have to do with receiving? In Colossians 2:7 it reads, "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Our roots is what keeps us standing and standing strong. The only way for us to have strong roots is to be rooted in Jesus. If we receive Jesus into our life, He can be our roots, but only if we let Him take charge of our life.

Worship = Sing

Singing is how we can express our worship. It's a part of worship that we don't all enjoy. You might think you don't have a good singing voice. Maybe you can go off tune a bit or maybe you don't have great range. But that's ok! God gave us song. He tells us to sing over 400 times int he Bible! We are meant to sing as much as a dog is meant to bark! I like how Lauren Daigle says it in her song Let It Be A Hallelujah.

"With every breath that's in me

With every song and melody

Let it be a hallelujah

In every breaking moment

In every blessing that You give

Let it be a hallelujah

Oh Lord, let it be a hallelujah.

-Let It Be A Hallelujah by Lauren Daigle

Worship = The Shoot

Singing seems like such a small thing to do. It doesn't seem that important. We can compare this to a shoot. The shoot of a plant is just the beginning growth of a plant. Singing is the beginning of worship. It's small and seems unimportant. Singing is one of the most important part of worship. It's part of our life in Jesus. God didn't tell us to sing over 400 hundred times for us to just skip over it!

Let God take charge. Let your roots grow deep and strong in Jesus. Let your shoot begin to grow.

Here are some other things the speaker touched on that I thought were really cool.

  • "Satan will try to remind you of your past, but you must remind him of his future."

  • Singing reduces stress.

  • "We need God, but He doesn't need us."

  • Win the battle of sin with worship. Show Satan who's going to win.

  • A plant needs three main things in order to grow, heat or warmth, moisture, and nutrients. We need these things as well to grow in our relationship with God. The Son (Jesus as our warmth), Living Water (the Holy Spirit as moisture), and The Bible (which helps us grow as our nutrients).

If you want to dig a little deeper into this topic, you can look into these verses:

-Colossians 3:1-4

-Psalm 1

-2 Thessalonians 2:3

-Psalm 103:8-14
